Kids Matter International Brings Holiday Cheer

Southlake, TX (PRWEB) December 17, 2012

Kids Matter International will host its annual Around the Block clothing program presented by Bostons the Gourmet Pizza at the KOHLS department store at State Highway 114 and Southlake Boulevard on Tuesday November 13th at 4pm. KMI works with local school systems, churches, social service groups and other nonprofit organizations to identify and contact the local families of the children. Last year, through the generosity of our partners, we were able to clothe over 1029 children stated Joe King, President and CEO of Kids Matter International. The KMI Around the Block program enables families with limited resources to make sure their children get the things they really need for Christmas, including a brand new pair of shoes. The children accompanied by their parents get to pick out their own selection of clothes ensuring they get just exactly what they want. If you have never experienced the KMI Around the Block evening at KOHLS, there is no better way to get your family into the Christmas Spirit commented Coye Conner, Chairman of Kids Matter International.

The majority of the funding for this years KMI Around the Block evening comes from the Bostons Pizza Foundation. The Bostons Pizza Foundation hosts a fall charity golf tournament every year that supports local charities. We selected the KMI ;Around the Block' program for the third year because it supports the children and families right here in our community. It has proven to be a great way to engage our vendors and our employees alike to give back to the community, said Mike Best, Chief Operating Officer of Bostons the Gourmet Pizza in the United States. Additionally, Bostons will provide snacks and refreshments for all of the families and the army of volunteers.

In addition to the Bostons Pizza Foundation, The Ryan Palmer Foundation and Ryan and Jennifer Palmer will once again be providing a new backpack for each child. This year we will also be partnering with The Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy, who will provide books to these children to promote education and to enhance their learning experience.

The KOHLS doors will open at 4pm on November 13th. Each family goes through a registration process and then is paired with one of over 450 KMI volunteers to go shopping. Each family is given $ 100.00 per child to spend on their specific needs. Once the shopping is over, the children proceed to the Buckner International shoe tent where each child will receive a brand new pair of shoes. Buckner International is a 134 year old Dallas based international charity. Buckner shares KMIs dedication and commitment to making life better for vulnerable children and families, so we are honored to be a part of the Around the Block event remarked Steve Massey, Buckner Foundation Gift Officer.
