Garden City, NY (PRWEB) December 25, 2012 </p><p> Members and guests of the NAPW Jacksonville, FL Local Chapter gathered for a champagne celebration and professional networking meeting on November 12th to toast the Chapters successful Corks & Forks event that raised more than $ 3500 for local students. The October fundraiser benefited Project S.O.S. (Strengthening Our Students) and enabled the nonprofit organization to help more than 360 local students. The group of professional women also raised their glasses to the very successful year the Chapter has enjoyed under the direction of Chapter President Jenni Edwards.</p>
<p>The Chapter President kicked off the celebratory evening by welcoming everyone to the event. She reminded everyone about the focus of the meeting: to celebrate the Chapters success as women and as a group.</p>
<p>The NAPW Jacksonville Local Chapter spent a lot of time and energy organizing Corks & Forks and it was truly a group effort, she said. The event was fun for vendors and attendees alike, and the Jacksonville Chapter was able to raise $ 3,624.22 for Project S.O.S., enough funds to impact the lives of 362 students in our community!</p>
<p>Shana Herrin, the Jacksonville Chapter Vice President of Charitable Acts, was responsible for bringing the important work of Project S.O.S. to the attention of the Chapter and set the wheels in motion for the charity event. Only a week after committing to the event, however, Shana was diagnosed with breast cancer. Despite this great setback, Shana remained dedicated to the cause. When she needed help, Leah Zimmer, Chapter Secretary, stepped in to pick up where Shana had left off.</p>
<p>I want to personally thank Shana for showing me what strength and determination looks like, said Jenni. And I thank Leah for all of her hard work and for being so organized.</p>
<p>There were many other people to thank for their efforts, too many to be individually named, but special thanks went to Becky Brothers, Cheri Jones, CharuRaheja & Triage Logic, Lou Ann Hill, Sandi Capra & K9s for Warriors, Kelly Bush & CBC Benchmark, Tammy Plank, Ann Fortner, Ella Fullerton, Lauren Domene, Jennifer Taylor & Rail America, Marcella Kiper, Terri Waters, Mudharie Maharaj, Chris Childers, Terri Sherman, and Maria Simons.</p>
<p>Id also like to thank everyones spouses, and my best friend, Hope Smilowitz and my amazing daughter Amber Vaden, Jenni said.</p>
<p>The Chapter President concluded by again thanking everyone for coming and encouraged the women to mingle and enjoy the tasty champagne and food.</p>
