Your Words Count Sound Off About the Fiscal Cliff: The National Institute for Civil Discourse Invites Americans to Send Public Messages to President Obama

San Francisco, Calif. (PRWEB) December 13, 2012

The National Institute for Civil Discourse, a nonpartisan center for advocacy, research, and policy at the University of Arizona has partnered with San Francisco technology company, Evergram, to promote public discussion regarding the looming Fiscal Cliff. http://fiscalcliff.evergram.com

A current headline-grabbing issue, the term Fiscal Cliff has become the popular catch phrase for the financial crisis the U.S. government faces at the end of 2012, when the terms of the Budget Control Act of 2011 go into effect and the Bush-era tax cuts expire.

Chaired by former presidents George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton, the National Institute for Civil Discourse is committed to fostering an open exchange of ideas and expression of values that will lead to better problem-solving and more effective government.

Institute Board member Olympia Snowe has famously observed, You can never solve a problem without talking to people with whom you disagree. With your help, the Institute can promote the frank, respectful and vigorous debate that has been our legacy and is our only hope for meeting the urgent challenges now facing America.

Citizens from the full breadth of the political spectrum are encouraged to exercise their First Amendment rights and participate in the political process by engaging in public discussion regarding potential implications of the impending financial crunch. The NICD encourages the public to document their own personal ideas, hopes, and views using Evergram, a cutting edge, new multi-media messaging platform.

As Institute Board member Richard Lugar stated in his concession speech, One can be very conservative or very liberal and still have a bipartisan mindset. Such a mindset acknowledges that the other party is also patriotic and may have some good ideas.

The NICD will compile Evergram messages and deliver to President Obama on December 15th, the best submissions will be curated and released to the public via various media outlets.

The public is invited to send messages to the President using this link: http://fiscalcliff.evergram.com.
