NAPW Jacksonville, FL Chapter Discussed New Charity Focus for 2013 and Reflected on Successes of 2012 at December meeting

Garden City, NY (PRWEB) December 25, 2012

Members and guests of the NAPW Jacksonville, FL Local Chapter gathered on a stormy evening on December 10th for a festive networking meeting. The group of professional women took some time to reflect on their past accomplishments and made plans for the exciting things to come in the Chapters second year including upcoming events, voting in new officers and choosing a new charity focus.

NAPW Jacksonville Local Chapter President Jenni Edwards kicked off the celebratory evening by welcoming everyone in attendance and thanking all for braving the stormy weather and traffic to attend the meeting. She handed out small gifts to all attendees, as a token of her appreciation for the Chapters hard work over the past year. Jenni then talked to the group about the need to choose a new charity focus for 2013.

I would like everyone to please think of a charity that would mean something to the group and email you ideas to me no later than January 7th, said Jenni. The charity must benefit women and/or children, but it doesnt have to be a traditional charity. It could instead be in the form of a scholarship for a deserving young woman, or something similar.

The group will vote on which charity to focus on at the January meeting. Next, Jenni moved on to discussing positions for Chapter Officers that needed to be filled. Going forward, she announced, anyone serving as a Vice President will be responsible for organizing a committee to help accomplish their tasks.

Each Committee will need to communicate with their Committee Members (in person, via email, conference call, etc.) at least once per month, outside of the Chapter meetings, said Jenni.
Committee Members must provide a written summary to the Chapter Secretary and Chapter President before the first Monday of each month. These summaries will be combined and distributed at the Chapter Meetings. Jenni will remain Chapter President, Leah Zimmer will remain Chapter Secretary, Sandi Capra will remain Vice President of Hospitality, and Charu Raheja will remain Vice President of Finance.

Shana Herrin will be stepping down as Vice President of Charitable Acts, but she wishes to serve on the Charitable Acts Committee. In addition to the Vice President of Charitable Acts position coming available, the position of Historian/Photographer is open. This person will be responsible for documenting Chapter meetings and events, and will be responsible for sharing photos via social media.

Becky Brothers accepted the new position of Vice President of Social Media and will be responsible for growing and maintaining the Chapters social media presence; the position of Vice President of Membership Growth was accepted by Becky Brothers and she will be responsible for outreach to not only increase membership, but also to increase attendance to monthly Chapter meetings; and Charu Raheja is the new Vice President of Inspiration & Education. She will be responsible for securing six speakers (internal or external) to benefit the members and guests at monthly Chapter meetings.

The NAPW Jacksonville Local Chapter also needs a new meeting place. Members Kelly Bush and Marcela Kiper have access to spaces that may be suitable and Jenni will meet with them to determine if the spaces are adequate.

The meeting came to a close with the exchange of White Elephant gifts. Chapter members were previously told about the gift exchange and asked to bring an unmarked, wrapped gift valued at no more than $ 30 in order to participate in the anonymous exchange. Jenni brought an extra gift in case someone forgot to bring one and stated if someone chose to use the extra gift, the funds would be donated to Project S.O.S. Marcela Kiper donated funds in exchange for the gift. Numerous useful and enjoyable gifts were exchanged, while only one was stolen.

The next Jacksonville Chapter meeting will be held January 14th at 6:30pm; location TBD.
