Baby Elephant Learns to Play Music in New Colorful Picture Book

HYATTSVILLE, Md. (PRWEB) January 11, 2013

Doctor and author Jolan Rhodes, puts together her passion for writing childrens picture books and her love and fascination for elephants in her new storybook, Little Rumba. Rhodes newly published work is a colorful tale, which teaches children the value of family and friendship, the love of animals, and which shares the joy of music.

My love of elephants began when, as a child growing up in Brooklyn, N.Y., I visited the zoo with my family. I was amazed at the massive size of the elephants, states Rhodes. How could anything be so big, but also so gentle? Were they always this size? I wondered. This question was answered when I saw a small baby elephant. What was unusual about this baby elephant was his love of the music playing on the zookeepers radio as he swayed back and forth to the beat of the music. I gave him the name Little Rumba.

This tale is the soul-searching journey of Little Rumba, a baby elephant that lives in the bush by a village in Africa. As he watches the village children running, jumping and dancing happily, he secretly wishes he could have fun that way too. His friends would invite him to play with them but he would just sit alone and pout. While most elephants enjoy lying on a nice warm bed of leaves, he does not. Despite his many friends, nice comfortable bed at home and plenty of food to eat, Little Rumba was still unhappyuntil he discovered music.

Little Rumba is a delightful tale about an elephant that loves music and finds a way to share it with his family, friends, and the rest of his community. With brightly colored illustrations, endearing storyline and valuable lessons, it is a great tool for educators and parents to educate their students and children in an entertaining way.

Rhodes is also currently working on the publication of two other works, Trunks, Snout, Nosey...and the Bright Shiny Stone, and The Bully and the Bee.
